Whitby is a famously gothic seaside town in England, and now it’s trying to break a new world record for largest-ever gathering of people dressed up as vampires. In partnership with Guinness World Records, English Heritage is inviting vampire lovers to wear their best vampire attire for a gathering at Whitby Abbey, aka “the birthplace of Dracula.” The event will take place the evening of May 26th, to mark the 125th anniversary of Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel. The event will include live music from local acts, and performed excerpts from Dracula by Time Will Tell Theatre, as well as local food and drinks. Those wearing traditional vampire fancy dress will be able to enter free, but they must wear: black trousers or dress, black shoes, waistcoat, black cape or collared overcoat (a different color inside will be permitted) and fangs on their top row of teeth.
