This is certainly out of the ordinary. An Australian wool farmer said a lamb from his family’s flock will now become a family pet due to its extra leg. Sam Kuerschner of Orroroo, said he was taking a break from shearing recently when his father noticed one of the lambs in the pen had five legs. He says the situation was made stranger by the fact that the animal’s fifth leg is protruding from the back of its head. Kuerschner says, “It’s a fully formed leg. There’s a bone and joints and it’s even got a sort of hoof on the end of it, and seems to be attached to the sheep just through skin or flesh, rather than a bone joint.” The farmers say when the sheep is old enough to wean off its mother they’ll take it home and keep it as a pet.
