We’ve all heard of dogs eating homework.. but this is a little bit of a bigger deal.

Officials at Oregon Lottery officials say they were able to reconstruct a winning scratch-off ticket that was supposedly torn to shreds by dogs.

In a letter to the lottery commission, Nathan and Rachael Lamet explained their $3 scratch ticket had been ripped to bits by their two dogs, Apple and Jack.

“For some reason we left the ticket on the ottoman and they decided it was delicious,” Rachel Lamet says in the letter. “I went to bed and when I woke up it was eaten to the point that I thought it was unable to be checked. But my husband thought it was hilarious and someone might get a good laugh at the very least. He said it’s for sure a winner.”

Feeling sympathetic, Lottery officials ultimately were able to conclude the ticket was legitimate and winner, agreeing to pay the couple the $8 prize.

The Lumets were surprised and relieved officials were able to help.

“We are definitely getting more chew toys, they go through a lot. We love them, but they are crazy sometimes,” comments Rachel.
