Robert: “Unicorn” puppy rescued by shelter
A young puppy is making waves online for his unusual appearance.
Rochelle Steffen of Mac’s Mission rescue shelter in named the pup “Narwhal” since he has a second tail growing from his forehead.
“I looked at him, and I was like, ‘This is the most ridiculously adorable puppy I’ve ever seen,” Steffen says. “Then my million-dollar question was, ‘Did the tail wag?”’
Sadly, it doesn’t. In fact, x-rays show there are no bones in Narwhal’s extra appendage.
It’s me Narwhal!! I don’t understand what viral is but my foster mama said my story being viral helps ALL our special…
Mac’s Mission is a shelter for special needs dogs and has rescued pooches with spina bifida, ones with five legs and even one with two urinary tracts.
“We have a real problem in rural Missouri of dumped dogs,” Steffen said. “He was found as a stray with another dog. People knew that he was unique and didn’t want to see him get run over. He’s special.”
Steffen says they’re going to monitor Narwhal over the next few weeks to ensure there are no complications with the double tail. After that, they’ll begin to look for his fur-ever home.
