Tom Brady‘s announcement that he was un-retiring after only a couple of months after calling it a career was a welcomed surprise for many of his fans, except maybe for the guy who spent $500 ooo for the ball used for his “last touchdown pass” pre-un-retiring.

The anonymous buyer paid $518 628 USD for what was, at the time, the ball the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s threw for his final touchdown pass in the 2021-22 season. The sale finalized the day before the star quarterback decided he wasn’t done with football yet.

“If there is any item in the field of sports collectibles that needs no embellishment, it is this historic piece: the final touchdown ball of Tom Brady’s career,” the description of the ball read.

Brady announced his retirement on January 29th, 2022. He would recant that announcement on March 13th.

Last year, Brady’s first touchdown football sold for $428 841 USD.
