Robert: Tely 10 cancelled, virtual race scheduled instead


The 93rd Tely 10 Mile Road Race has been cancelled according to the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association.

The race, which was pushed to November 1st do to the COVID-19 pandemic, will instead be held virtually for the first time ever.

#StayHomeTely2020 will offer four virtual challenges, including shorter and longer distances:

– Kids Tely-10 Mile (ages 6 to 11) (born in the year 2009 through 2014
– Tely-5 Mile (age 12 and older) (born in the year 2008 and earlier)
– Tely-10 Mile (age 15 and older) (born in the year 2005 and earlier)
– 92-Mile Endurance Tely (age 18 and older) (born in 2002 and earlier)

Participants may run or walk at their own pace, anytime and anyplace. Participants also have the ability to choose their start and finish lines, as there is no designated course.

As the times and distance covered is based on an honour system, there will be no finishing order or placing awards.

Organizers plan on resuming the race as normal next year, aiming for a July 25, 2021 race day.
