Two sisters in their seventies finally got to meet each other after only recently discovering the other exists.
76-yearl old Harriet Carter, who was given up for adoption at birth, found out she had a sister named Linda Hoffman, 73, when both women signed up for Ancestry.com. A DNA test would later confirm they shared the same parents.
“I had a message from Harriet saying, ‘I think we might be related,'” Hoffman says. “We were 100% match, but our parents never told a soul ever.”
Following the discovery, the sisters got to know each other through phone calls and finally got to meet each other face-to-face this week in Denver.
The women say they are choosing not to focus on the time they lost, but rather the time they have now.
