Robert: Scientists want to send nudes into space

Just like that dude you don’t know that just followed you on Instagram, scientists are under the impression that best way to get the attention of aliens is to send them pics of our junk.

A proposal, called “A Beacon in the Galaxy”, drafted by 11 researchers representing a number of institutions, calls for a binary-coded message “developed for transmission to extraterrestrial intelligences in the Milky Way galaxy” that will include physical descriptions and visual representations of the human form.

“This information is part of the basic expectation of any message to an extra-terrestrial individual as it allows recognition of our appearance — a detail of a given ETI that would no doubt be of interest to us, and relevant should further exchanges be established, or we someday physically meet,” the scientists said.

In addition to our naughty bits, the proposal also details plans to forward explanations of our mathematics and physics, a time stamp, location stamp, visual representations of the DNA double-helix structure and a hydrogen atom, an illustration of the solar system, and a map of the earth.
