Robert: RNC charge teen for high school bear spray attack

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has made an arrest in connection with an assault on students at Prince of Wales Collegiate earlier this week.

This past Wednesday, an altercation involving a group of students outside school property took place that ended up with several students being attacked with bear spray. At least 20 students were exposed to the spray when individual discharged the weapon towards another student. Several students were sent to hospital.

Investigators with the RNC Major Crime Unit arrested a 16-year-old male youth in connection with the assault. The boy was held at the Youth Remand Center overnight to appear at provincial court in St. John’s and has been charged with assault with a weapon and breaching court orders.

The investigation is ongoing.
