Robert: RCMP warn of drug-laced bubble gum found in the province

Police are warning the public of narcotic-laced bubble gum after a drug overdose case has been reported in Bay Roberts.

The source of the bubble gum remains under investigation, however police believe it was brought in from out of province.

Police seized several items near the overdosed victim, including what appeared to be bubble gum. Preliminary tests on the gum found positive indicators for narcotics, including fentanyl, an extremely potent narcotic that can be deadly in even minute amounts.

The RCMP is asking people be vigilant and mindful in the event other such substances are in the overall community.
