Robert: Province announces electricity rebate for those affected by oil prices
The provincial government announced today that they are directing the Public Utilities Board to provide a one-time, lump-sum rebate to electricity customers whose bills are affected by oil prices.
Residential and commercial customers whose power rates are affected by the Holyrood Generating Station or diesel generators are eligible for the rebate.
The finer details regarding this plan are to be worked out by the PUB.
The size of the rebate will vary based on a customer’s electricity usage.
The rebate will come from the Rate Stabilization Plan, which normally is paid out over over 12 months, but now will be paid up front.
The province will also provide $2.5 million to waive interest on overdue customer bills.
