Robert: Newfoundland vets will no longer declaw cats

The Newfoundland and Labrador College of Veterinarians has passed a resolution that will see vets in this province no longer perform surgeries that will result in declawed cats.

President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Margaret Brown-Bury, says, “The decision by the NLCOV membership supports the national and international trend to discontinue performing such procedures, and our Association supports it as well.”

The new by-law will come into effect on January 1st, 2019 so that members can have the chance to educate clients regarding the change.
