Robert: Newfoundland reports 312 new cases of COVID-19, schools returning to virtual learning

Newfoundland and Labrador has 312 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today.

Of the new cases, 216 are located in the Eastern Health region, 49 in Central, 30 in Western, 16 in Labrador-Grenfell Health and 1 case through a private lab with no region specified.

There 1111 active cases currently.

There is no one in hospital due to COVID-19 despite the large active case number.

During today’s briefing, Premier Andrew Furey, flagged by Education Minister Tom Osbourne, announced that schools will be moving to virtual learning starting on January 4th. This decision will be evaluated on a week to week basis.
