Robert: Newfoundland Growlers evicted by the City of St. John’s

The Newfoundland Growlers are now homeless.
According to team owner Dean MacDonald, the boys in bronze have been evicted from the (soon to be) Mary Brown’s Centre.
It is no secret that the city and Growlers management have been at odds with each other over the last number of years, but the two sides did manage to find some middle ground earlier this year and agreed to a three-year lease agreement for the former Mile One. A deal that is now out the window.
In a press release, the city says employees of St. John’s Sports and Entertainment Limited have brought forward allegations of disrespectful workplace conduct against staff at Deacon Sports and Entertainment, owners of both the Growlers and the St. John’s Edge, that must be fully investigated.
The team is scheduled to play in St. John’s on November 5th, their first game on home ice in over a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The status of this game, and all other home games for the current hockey season, is currently unknown.
