Robert: New dating app makes you pay for matches

A new dating app is turning heads for it’s unique way of matching you up with other singles; making you pay for them.

GoGetter is dating app marketed towards like-minded, fitness oriented people, and justifies the use of a “pay-per-match” system by suggesting if money is involved, people will be motivated to find a legitimate and quality relationship. They describe it as having “skin in the game.”

“I’ve spoken to hundreds of singles and meeting people isn’t the issue, it’s the quality of the matches,” said Andrea Miller, GoGetter Founder. “GoGetter is designed to help you meet the right kind of people without wasting your time.”

Users pays for “coins” and then use these coins in order to match with another person. The other person is given 48 hours to pay his or hers. If they do not, they get their coin back.

“People swipe right with their eyes closed so that means nothing these days,” adds Andrea. “Users want another indication about where they stand and if it will go beyond just a chat.”

During the pandemic, single people have been turning to dating apps in record numbers. A survey conducted last year among individuals who have used a dating site or app in the past say 45% saying the experience left them feeling more frustrated because they couldn’t find like-minded individuals, while 28% said it left them feeling hopeful.
