Robert: Michael J. Fox retiring from acting citing declining health
Michael J. Fox is stepping away from the big screen.
According to sources, the Canadian actor’s declining health as the reason for the decision.
“There is a time for everything, and my time of putting in a twelve-hour workday, and memorizing seven pages of dialogue, is best behind me,” Fox says. “At least for now … I enter a second retirement. That could change, because everything changes. But if this is the end of my acting career, so be it.”
Fox was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease in 1991 at age 29. He went public with his diagnosis in 1998. He would take a step back from acting shortly after the announcement, making sporadic guest appearances in a number of shows, as well as a starring role in the Michael J. Fox Show in 2013.
