Robert: McDonald’s in China serves Oreo and Spam burger


Sometimes “available for only a limited time” is a good thing.

This past Monday McDonald’s in China served up “burgers” of (get this) SPAM and Oreo crumbs. 

The fast food chain described the concoction as “tender and juicy,” “full of meatiness” and with “a hint of sweet aftertaste” that amounts to “an unimaginable double surprise.”

“Luncheon meat is a trending food among youngsters nowadays,” said McDonald’s communications manager in China. “The flavourful and crispy Oreo, on the other hand, is a snack youngsters are familiar with. By creatively combining the two foods, it doesn’t only showcase the collision of tastes and textures, it is also quite topical socially.”

The limited-edition burger was available only for one day as part of McDonald’s China’s “members only” promotions, a series of discounts and special offers available every Monday.

Ronnie McD and friends say they ran out of the Sp-Oreo burgers by noon, totaling 400 000 units sold.
