One of the more defining characteristics of a McDonald’s McFlurry is its unique spoon design. The hallowed out utensil has long been confused for a mechanism for slurping up the melted remnants left in the bottom of your cup, and now McDonald’s wants to make it up to you.
McDonald’s is apologizing for the spoon’s confusing design by giving away their new Caramel Brownie McFlurry for a limited time.
“While we can’t change the iconic hollow spoon (a key piece of the mixing process), we can help ease the sting of your facepalm upon figuring out how to use it,” the company said in a statement.
Everyone is eligible for a free regular sized Caramel Brownie McFlurry on May 4, via the McDonald’s app, no purchase necessary. Customers can also order the treat witha minimum $15 purchase via Uber Eats.
But if so many people make the same mistake, why not make the spoon double a s a straw?
The company says, “We think our creamy McFlurry is best enjoyed with a spoon. Some of the McFlurry toppings are too large and might pose a safety risk with a straw.”
