Robert: Kale recalled due to possible contamination
Move over romaine lettuce, kale is now dangerous for you to eat.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling Eat Smart’s packaged salad mix containing kale due to a possible Listeria contamination. The agency warns the 156 g packages of ‘Salad Shake Ups – Sweet Kale’ with a best before date of December 3rd, should be thrown out or returned. The CFIA says the recalled product has been distributed nationally, but there has yet to be a reported illnesses associated with consuming it.
Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled, but can cause death in extreme cases. Symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
