Robert: House of Representatives votes to impeach Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump has become the third President in history to be impeached.

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday night to impeach over obstruction of Congress and abuse of power charges. The matter will now be transferred over to the Senate where a trial will happen early in 2020. If found guilty, Trump could be ousted as President.

The abuse of power article passed 230-197 with one independent supporting impeachment and two Democrats opposing both articles of impeachment. One Democrat split votes, supporting the abuse of power article but not obstruction of Congress. The obstruction of Congress article passed 229-198.

Every Republican voted against both articles.

“After three years of sinister witch hunts, hoaxes, scams, the House Democrats are trying to nullify the ballots of tens of millions of patriotic Americans,” Trump said upon hearing the news.
