Robert: Growlers sign NHL veteran
The Newfoundland Growlers have announced the signing of Bonavista native Adam Pardy.
Pardy, the third Newfoundlander to join the newest ECHL franchise, was drafted 173rd overall in the 2004 NHL entry draft by the Calgary Flames. He would then go on to play for 350 pro games in the NHL, registering 5 goals and 50 assists for 55 points. Over the next 10 years, Pardy donned jerseys for the Calgary Flames, Dallas Stars, Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators.
Most recently the 34 year old defencemen skated in 11 games for Frolunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League where he totaled 1 assist and 18 penalty minutes.
The first game for the Newfoundland Growlers in their inaugural season will be October 12th when they face off against the Florida Everblades at Mile One Centre.
