Robert: “Grease” prequel in the works
“Grease” is once again the word.
Paramount has put a prequel to the hit musical Grease into development. Titled Summer Loving, the movie is said to centre on the initial meeting between the rough around the edges Danny Zuko and the sweet and innocent Sandy Olsson, as alluded to in the story’s musical number “Summer Nights”.
Grease originally opened up on Broadway in 1971, but is best known for the 1978 big screen adaptation with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John starring. A sequel was released following the success of the ’78 movie, but it failed to live up to the reputation of the original. In 2016, Vanessa Hudgens and and Julianne Hough starred in an Emmy winning “live for TV” version on Fox.
