A family in New York have outdone themselves when it came to the Christmas decorations this year.

The Gay family of Lagrangeville have set a new Guinness World record after posting 687,000 lights on their property. The display marks the second time the Gay family have broken the same record. The family first set the record in 2012 with 346 283 lights, and then broke that record in 2014 with 601 736.

“I grew up in a family of eight children and she made the holidays magical for the whole family,” patriarch Tim says. “From Thanksgiving to New Years, it was like Grand Central Station in our house. It was very special to us.”

The family uses their yearly displays as a way to raise money for charity. Gay is hoping to collect $500 000 with this year’s show.
