Robert: Ellen reportedly wants out of her show following workplace concerns
Sources claim talk show host Ellen DeGeneres wants “out of her show” following a flurry of accusations of a toxic workplace on set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
“She is pissed that people have come forward to share these negative stories about her and feels betrayed,” the source says.
“She knows she can be tough at times,” the source continues, “but believes she works hard and is extremely creative and that it’s a privilege to work for her and be around her.”
Last month, 10 former staffers told Buzzfeed that they faced fear, intimidation and racism while working on the show. While it should be noted that the behaviour was from producers and senior staff members, they thought DeGeneres should have stepped in.
Last week, in a letter to her staff, DeGeneres apologized.
“On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect,” she wrote. “Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”
