Robert: Dominos offers free pizza for Dominos tattoos, then cancels contest after too many people enter
Sometimes an idea looks good on paper, but ends up being a real bad idea.
Dominos in Russia nixed a promotion where they offered free pizza for life to anyone who got a Dominos logo tattoo. The promotion wasn’t axed due to a lack of interest, rather exec’s were forced to end the promotion after too many people entered.
The promotion was originally planned for a two month period, but ended after only five days after the chain’s social media became flooded with eager pizza fanatics. The contest advertised up to 100 free Domino’s pizzas every year for 100 years to anyone who got a tattoo of the company’s logo, posted a pic to social media and proved the ink was legit. The company clearly never expected so many fans to participate and announced earlier this week they were ending the contest, and only the first 350 people who entered will be awarded the lifetime deal.
In a message released on Tuesday, the company said, “An urgent message to all those sitting at the tattoo artist’s right now: We’ll include you in the list of participants, but we’re waiting for photos up to midday.” They added, “To those with appointments scheduled for later, we recommend canceling them.”
