Forget the cat who came back the very next day.

A dog named Pepper walked over 70 kms across Nunavut in order to be reunited with its family.

Donna Adams says her family traveled to to Whale Cove, Nunavut and when they returned home to Rankin Inlet, there was no sign of Pepper.

After nearly a week since the disappearance, Adams was contacted by family in Whale Cove, informing her that a German Shepherd not unlike Pepper had wandered into the town.

“So we went zooming on my ATV… and drove down the street yelling for her, calling her name,” Adams said. “She perked up her ears when she recognized us… and came at me so hard, she nearly knocked me my glasses over.”

The family believes Pepper managed to leave their property in Rankin Inlet shortly after the family left for Whale Cove and walked over 70 kilometres in order to find them.

Adams says the family could not be happier to have Pepper back with them.
