Robert: Disney denies shutting down Magic Kingdom attraction
Disney fans are being told “not to worry” when it comes to rumours that the corporation is planning on shutting down a favourite Magic Kingdom attraction.
The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida shut down online rumors that it was re-purposing the “Enchanted Tiki Room” into something a little more modern and relevant in time for the park’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
“A little birdie told us there are some rumors flying around about our beloved Tiki birds at Walt Disney World Resort. We’re sorry that our fans are being fed incorrect information by unscrupulous sources. While “toucan” play at that game, we deal in facts here at the Disney Parks Blog,” said Disney Parks editorial content director Thomas Smith in an online blog post. “These birds will continue entertaining our guests at the Magic Kingdom Park just as they have done since 1971.”
Initial rumours stated that Mickey and the gang were planning on over-hauling the iconic attraction to reflect the movie Moana in a way to include a “relevant intellectual property.” Similar rumours spread across the internet regarding the Country Bear Jamboree being replaced with something themed around Toy Story. Disney has yet to confirm or deny these rumours.
