Robert: Corner Brook boy gets a flurry of celebrity social media shout outs
Kade Foster had a pretty disappointing birthday after none of his invited guests showed up to celebrate. Taking a bad situation and making it good, his dad took to Twitter and ended up creating a social media storm of well wishes.
Jason Foster posted on Twitter Sunday morning, explaining the situation and tagging Mitchell Marner and John Tavares of the Toronto Maple Leafs. His request was simple, a “happy birthday” for his boy.
My son Kade had his 11th birthday party last night. None of his invited friends came. That hurt. I’m asking my Twitter friends to show him some love today. If you have a minute, please send him a birthday wish. @Marner93 @91Tavares @MapleLeafs #LeafsForever pic.twitter.com/kn0vP1l6z8

Hours later, the post went viral. Not only did both players respond, but so did team mate Auston Matthews and celebrities including actors Ben Stiller, Mark Hamill, and Will Arnett, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The pro hockey players also promised Kade a “surprise gift” was on the way.
