In celebration of Newfoundland’s NHL superstar Alex Newhook and his 2022 Stanley Cup win, the City of St. John’s has announced a parade in his honour will take place on August 22nd.

The Stanley Cup parade will run from 2:00-4:00 pm, starting at Bannerman Park and culminating at Water Street. The Music Collection Drumline will accompany Newhook and the Stanley Cup.

Once Downtown, Newhook will take to the stage on George Street, joined by Mayor Danny Breen and other special guests.

Metrobus will provide transportation to and from the event on a “load and go” schedule between 12:30 and 2:00 pm. Passengers will be picked up at the Village Shopping Centre and dropped off at the St. John’s Convention Centre and vice-versa. A low-floor accessible bus will be available.

Accessible parking options will be available throughout downtown, near the pedestrian mall, and in several parking garages.

An accessible viewing area will set up at 240 Water Street during the parade, and on Duckworth Street, overlooking the George Street Plaza, for the event on George.

A sensory friendly zone with reduced sounds will be located along the parade route on Duckworth Street, in front of The Sir Humphrey Gilbert Building.
