Robert: Chess piece bought for $6 worth $1.3 million

An ivory chess piece bought for around $6.00 in the 60’s is expected to sell for $1 300 000.00.

Sotheby’s Auction House says the ivory piece, dubbed the Lewis Warder, is believed to to have been carved in Norway in the late 12th or early 13th century before making their way to the Isle of Lewis in Scotland.

The piece was purchased by an antiques dealer in 1964 and passed on to his daughter, who stored it in a drawer until recently.
