Robert: Billy Dee Williams reprising role for "Star Wars: Episode IX"
Billy Dee Williams is going back to a galaxy far, far away.
Galactic gambler and former Baron-Administrator of the Cloud City of gas planet Bespin, Lando Calrissian, is set to make his return in the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX. Sources confirmed that Williams will indeed be returning to the Star Wars film franchise for the first time since Return of the Jedi, which was released in 1983.
The character of Calrissian returned to the big screen earlier this year in Solo: A Star Wars Story, played by Donald Glover.
In addition to Williams, Kerri Russell has also been added to the finale of the latest intergalactic trilogy in a yet to be named role. Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver will all be reprising their roles, and J.J. Abrams is attached to direct. The film will open on Dec. 20, 2019.
