Robert: Ariana Grande returning to performing live
After a whirlwind year, Ariana Grande will be returning to the stage to ring in 2019.
The 25 year old pop star is slated to perform at The Chelsea in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Dec. 29 as part of a star studded lead in to the New Year. Imagine Dragons will also perform that at the Chelsea that weekend.
Grande has cancelled a number of appearances in recent weeks, citing a need to “emotionally recuperate.” “Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much-needed time to heal and mend,” a statement from her rep states. “She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding.”
The “No Tears Left to Cry” singer has been in mourning since the death of ex-boyfriend and rapper Mac Miller in September. Many of Miller’s fans lashed out towards Grande, placing blame on her for his descent into the drugs that ultimately caused his death. Prior to that event, Grande and fiance, Saturday Night Live actor Pete Davidson, were the subject of much criticism from the public after they announced they had become engaged after only a few months of dating.
