Robert: Alessia Cara is standing up to online bullies
After announcing she was taking a break from social media, Alessia Cara has returned to the internet, saying she doesn’t want negativity to stop her form interacting with her fans.
Earlier this week, the 22-year-old pop singer told the masses she was stepping away from Twitter and Instagram following nasty messages sent to her by strangers. She accompanied her announcement with screen shots from her Twitter account that showed users criticizing her appearance and slinging obscenities.
Less that 24 hours later, Cara returned to Twitter saying she didn’t want the launch of her new album to be “tainted by my sensitivity toward hits to my ego.” She continued to explain that it wouldn’t be fair to leave her fans hanging because they’ve “always showed up” for her.
Alessia Cara’s new album, The Pains of Growing, is due out Friday.
