Rapper suing Fortnite for stealing dance moves. 2018 is strange.
Rapper 2 Milly is suing the makers of Fortnite for snagging his dance move and profiting from it. Quartzy reports 2 Milly filed the lawsuit against Epic Games, which makes Fortnite, on December 5 in California district court. The dance is question is referred to as the “Swipe it” emote in the game. Players had to pay $10 for a battle pass in order to access the emote (lifelike actions that avatars can carry out). 2 Milly–real name Terence Ferguson–tweeted earlier this year that the dance, which he calls the “Milly Rock” originated in his video for the song of the same name in 2015. His lawsuit alleges that Epic Games “unfairly profited from exploiting Ferguson’s protected creative expression and likeness.”
