Port aux Basques suffers damage as Fiona hits Atlantic Canada

Fiona made landfall Saturday morning between Canso and Guysborough, N.S., as a post-tropical storm with Category 1 windspeeds.

Hundreds of thousands of people in the Maritimes are without power, but the effects are also being felt on the southwest coast of Newfoundland, especially in Port aux Basques, where there have been reports of flooding and damage to properties. Power outages have been reported for hundreds of people in Newfoundland and Labrador.
