Hugh: Your Favourite Type of Candy Says Something About Your Personality

With the Easter weekend behind us, if you’re in the market for some cheap candy, now is the time. Did you know that what you pick up from the candy aisle says something about your personality? It turns out that people who gravitate to certain types of candy tend to share personality traits. For example, fans of sour candy are usually (59%) extroverts. They’re also more likely to identify as “eccentric,” “funny,” and “sarcastic.” Meanwhile, chocolate lovers are more likely to be “optimistic” and “shy.” If your favourite flavour is mint, there’s a very good chance (78%) you consider yourself “thoughtful.” People who are the biggest fans of candy and enjoy it every day are much more likely to identify as “night owls” rather than “early birds” – not surprising because they’re probably kept up by all that sugar.
The study was conducted on behalf of Jelly Belly, so of course some jelly bean-specific questions were asked. If your favourite Jelly Belly flavour is buttered popcorn, chances are you’re a cat person, while cherry lovers are more often dog people, and cotton candy fans say they’re not animal people.
