Hugh: Thief Who Left His Phone in Car He Robbed Gets Identified by his own Selfies
Police in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, got a lucky break while investigating a car prowl last week, after discovering that the alleged thief had left his cell phone behind in the vehicle. The LaCrosse Tribune reports that Lucas W. Armstrong was arrested for breaking into an unlocked car and stealing the owner’s wallet, which contained $20 in cash and debit and credit cards. Police found the car’s doors open, and also Armstrong’s phone, and were able to identify him from selfies on the phone. Armstrong also has an open felony burglary case that was filed in April, where he is accused of stealing a laptop from a hotel room.
