Hugh: The World Cup is Coming to Canada! North America United Wins Bid to Host in 2026

It was announced this morning that FIFA voted to approve the bid of North America United to host the World Cup in 2026. Canada, Mexico, and the United States are all involved in the hosting duties, making it the first ever World Cup to be held (at least partially) in Canada. The USA hosted in 1994, while Mexico hosted in 1970 and 1986. In past years, the host nation is usually guaranteed a spot in the tournament, which makes it likely that Canada will return to the World Cup for the first time since 1986. The current blueprint, which is subject to change, will have 10 games hosted in Canada, 10 in Mexico, and 60 in the USA.
