I think it’s safe to say most hockey fans enjoy a drink or two while watching their favourite team play, but do some fan bases indulge more than others? It turns out, yes. A study was recently conducted to figure out which NHL fan base drinks the most and…of course it’s the Toronto Maple Leafs. As a die-hard Leafs fan myself, I’m not surprised at all. The project asked hockey fans 21 or older living in the U.S. and Canada who their favourite team is, the average number of alcoholic drinks consumed per game, and the average amount they spend on alcohol for games. By both average number of drinks and average amount spent on booze, Toronto Maple Leafs fans topped the list at 3.9 drinks per game and $58.50 spent. At the opposite end of the spectrum are the Rangers faithful, who have 1.8 drinks per game, the least of all NHL fans. I’ll post the full ranking by number of drinks per game below, and I want you to let me know if the order surprises you at all.

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs (3.9)
