Hugh: People in Germany Gather for “Socially Distant Dance Party”

On May 21, a venue in Münster, Germany held what could be the first socially distant dance party, reports Jezebel. DJ Gerd Janson and others played at Coconut Beach to a crowd of 100. The venue can usually hold 1,500 to 2,000, but seats were limited because of social distancing. Tickets were about $76 apiece, but promoters say the cost was high to make up for typical sales for this kind of event. “It went really well: a bittersweet mixture of nostalgia and hope,” said Janson. “I had fun and I hope the dancers, too. It felt like a reinsurance that it can go on in some way, shape or form until things can get back to normal.”
