A new paper from Edith Cowan University shows going on vacation has a positive impact on mental health issues and conditions such as dementia. New environments and experiences can provide helpful cognitive stimulation. Medical experts recommend things like more walking, fresh air, and sunshine as partial dementia treatments, and vacations typically include all of those things together. Doctor Jun Wen says said more research is needed to see if vacations can become a medical intervention for dementia or even depression.
