Hugh: No Peeps for Halloween or Christmas This Year
Over at the Peeps plant, it’s beginning to look a lot like… Easter? The famous marshmallow candies will skip several major holidays over the next few months thanks to the Coronavirus crisis. The New York Post reports that Peeps production had been shut down this past spring due to the pandemic; it’s since resumed in a limited capacity, but not enough to provide treats for all the upcoming holidays. “This situation resulted in us having to make the difficult decision to forego production of our seasonal candies for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day in order to focus on meeting the expected overwhelming demand for Peeps for next Easter season,” Just Born Quality Confections said in a statement. The Pennsylvania-based company, which has been in business since 1923, added that its other seasonal confections are expected to be back in normal production by Halloween 2021.
