Hugh: New Zealand Prime Minister Says Four-Day Work Week Could Help Restart the Economy
Through a recent Facebook Live video, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern discussed the idea of a four-day work week as a way to help the economy in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. The suggestion came while talking about reigniting tourism in the country, as 60% of New Zealand’s tourism industry comes from locals. She said the decision ultimately comes down to employers and employees, but the idea would increase flexibility and opportunities for consumers. Ardern also encouraged employers to allow more flexible work situations, including working from home and putting in longer hours over a shorter number of days.
