Hugh: During the Pandemic, Deodorant Sales are Down and Ice Cream is Up
We’ve seen a lot of items gain sudden popularity while people spend more time at home during the pandemic, and it makes sense that other items would see sales shrink. According to consumer goods company Unilever, sales for personal care items have slumped. With people going out way less, the demand for items including deodorant and soap have declined. People have instead made other items into priorities, including ice cream. Grocery sales for ice cream are up as people consume more food at home. Between April and June, sales of ice cream consumed at home is up 26%. Other home food items that have seen an increase include soups, meal kits, and mayonnaise.
