Hugh: 9 in 10 People Have Lost Sleep Because of Binge-Watching TV

A new poll conducted in September by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine finds that 88 percent of Americans have lost sleep because they were binge-watching TV, UPI reports. The poll of more than 2,000 people also found that almost 95 percent of 18-to-44-year-olds have admitted to giving up sleep for a good binge–although many respondents also said they’d delayed bedtime to play video games, read or watch sports. AASM president Kelly Carden says lack of sleep can have serious health consequences. “Sleep is essential to health, well-being and safety, and chronic insufficient sleep can lead to an increased risk of health problems, mood disorders and motor vehicle accidents,” Carden said.
