Denver on its way to decriminalizing magic mushrooms

Although the official numbers won’t be released until May 16, unofficial results from Tuesday’s election indicate that Denver, Colorado will become the first city in the U.S. to decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms. As of Wednesday afternoon, Initiative 301 was set to pass narrowly with 50.6 percent of the vote, the Denver Post reports. Voting is now closed but ballots from the military and overseas will still be accepted, although they’re usually few in number. Under the new initiative, possession of psilocybin will remain illegal, but would become police’s “lowest law-enforcement priority.”
